UzAuto Motors Powertrain

UzAuto Motors Powertrain is one of the core enterprises in Uzbekistan’s automotive industry, established in 2009 and launched into serial production in 2012 to manufacture 1.2L and 1.5L engines for the domestic automotive market. In 2023, the company began production of the new-generation 1.2L CSS Prime engines for Chevrolet Onix and Tracker, marking a major upgrade in local engine manufacturing capabilities.

The plant currently has a nominal production capacity of 325,000 engines per year and a maximum capacity of 356,000 engines, making it one of the most important powertrain facilities in the region. UzAuto Motors Powertrain also produces key engine components such as crankshafts, cylinder blocks, and cylinder heads, and the company states that its products are manufactured in line with global quality requirements and the GM Global Manufacturing System.

The company has continued to deepen localization through new investments and technology upgrades. In December 2024, a new foundry specializing in high-pressure die casting of engine blocks was commissioned, following the 2023 launch of a high-precision machining line for CSS Prime cylinder heads and blocks. These upgrades strengthened Uzbekistan’s full-cycle engine production base and expanded the local value chain.

UzAuto Motors Powertrain is also showing growing export potential. Company materials say its engines are designed not only for the Uzbek market but also for export, including to the CIS, the USA, and other markets, and in 2025, the company reported exports of 40,000 CSS Prime cylinder blocks to Latin America worth US$4.9 million. This makes the enterprise a more competitive supplier in Uzbekistan’s evolving automotive ecosystem.
